Mount St. Michel, France
Mount St. Michel, located in the coastal areas France, is a small rocky island having a population that is almost less than fifty people living on the island. Centuries back the island was a land, but as the sea level rose the, the water shaped the landscape and this took several years for the island to take the rocky shape. Earlier the mount saint joined the main land with the help of a natural bridge, which was mostly covered by water, after than many developments took place and with the passage of time the flat surface have been divided to create pasture.

 

 

 

As a result of which the distance between the shore and the coast was reduced, and with the collaboration of the French authorities decided to built a hydraulic dam, to help remove the mud deposited by the rising waves on the island and to make the mount saint Michael island beautiful once again, the building of the damn will be completed in 2012,but the damn finished in 2009,

 

 

 

it also included the removal and destruction of the ramp that was build on top of the natural bridge and was made broad enough for the island to join the city, it’ll be replaced by a light bridge ,which will not only help in improving the water flow but will also help the damn to work efficeintly,as for visitors visiting the island, special shuttles will transfer them from the city to the island .the mountain comprises of many towers, courtyards ,

 

 

 

crypts and chapels. Today the mountain is seen as a gothic style church. The mountain has many stair cases and to reach the abbey one will have to climb almost nine hundred steps and it worth the climbing of stairs, halfway, the mountains feature the very famous and the beautiful church of saint Pierre and after crossing the grand degr (a narrow staircase), opens the door of the abbey entrance, from were one climbs to the Sauté Gautier terrace, which gives you mind blowing views, and its acts as a place to give you complete comfort and relaxation.
