Europe
is amongst the world’s largest
importer of seafood. During the last
decade the consumption and demand
of seafood rose by almost fifty percent
hence making the seafood business
in Europe more profitable. The continuous
growth of stores, shops, supermarket
etc has always benefitted the seafood
sales in general. Most of the fish
in Italy is marine fish other important
imports are shrimp, cephalopods, ground
fish fillets and tuna loins. In Europe,
there are separate markets for live,
chilled, refrigerated and frozen seafood.
Even though live fish not part of
the tradition of Italian culture,
as they do not usually offer live
fish in restaurants. |
